While Android Wear 2.0 has had a rocky ride since its unveiling last May, it seems that the next version of Google’s smartwatch-centric operating system has finally reached the finish line. In an email sent to developers this week, Google has seemingly outed a targeted timeline for Android Wear 2.0’s launch as it works to put the finishing touches on its wearable OS.
In the message first published by Android Police, Google informs developers that it is eyeing an early February launch for Android Wear 2.0 and wants app makers to be ready: “Your app … uses a legacy embedded APK mechanism that is not optimized for Android Wear 2.0,” the note reads. “If you do not take action, users will not be able to search for and find your app in the on-watch Play Store.”
