While it’s true that being a slave to your email is bad for your productivity, there are messages that require an immediate response. But you don’t have to keep an eagle eye on your inbox to stay on top of them. If you use Gmail and an Android phone, you can set up notifications for specific emails so you’ll be alerted the minute its received. Here’s how.
Create a filter
Although the goal here is to receive notification of specific emails on your phone, you need to set up the process in Gmail’s web client.
Open Gmail in your browser, then click the gear icon in the upper-right and select Settings. Next, select the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab. Click the Create a new filter link in the middle of the page.
