PlayStation Network (PSN) went down at 11:15 EDT / 16:15 BST on July 1, 2024. As of 12:30 ET / 17:30 BST on that same, however, it looks like everything is back up.
The issues were first reported early today and seemed to be hitting locations across the globe with status reports saying that it was affecting the US and UK, while users on social media in Japan, Spain, Germany, and France were all also posting about issues.
PlayStation's official service status page said that account management, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, and the PlayStation Store had all been affected and that 'some services are experiencing issues.'
Luckily, the page now says that “all services are up and running” as expected.
Is PSN down?
Although everything has now been fixed, PSN was down early today. That is at least according to the official PlayStation Network service status page. The page stated that Account management, gaming and social, PlayStation video, and the PlayStation Store were down with only PlayStation Direct functioning as it should.
Now, everything is back up and running with account managent, gaming and social, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct working as expected.
What happened the last time PSN was down?
The last major outage began at 09:51 PST / 12:51 EST / 16:51 GMT on March 21, 2024 and affected PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and web services across the board.
As you can see from a snapshot below of the official PlayStation Network Service Status page, it did not look good, with issues affecting all facets of the ecosystem.
As to what caused the outage, we're not sure, but can report that it was fixed after just couple of hours.
