It's the 1980s, and for half a year this IT pilot fish and his team have been working on a major project: upgrading the mainframe.

"Six months have been spent checking the requirements and specifications," fish says. "The decision was made to go with the current supplier, but we're all uneasy because the sales guy always has to go and check before answering any question.

"So we ask who is answering his questions and can we talk to him?

"Turns out that guy is, um, socially awkward. He never looks you in the eye and stares at the floor and gives one-word answers. But he knows his stuff and can calculate in hexadecimal and read assembler.
