New Disney Plus movies: every new film to stream in March 2024

New Disney Plus movies: March 1, 2024 update

Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter

After a few weeks without any notable new movies landing on Disney Plus, the critically-panned Spider-Man spin-off Morbius has sunk its teeth onto the service in the US. We've also updated our 'coming soon' section with all of the new films set to arrive in March, and removed X-Men and The Creator from this guide as they're no longer considered new.

March has arrived – and, with it, a bunch of new Disney Plus movies to enjoy. Well, just one for now, but there are plenty of new movies that'll join the streaming giant later in the month. Check back in regularly with us, then, to find out what's coming soon.

This week, the only new Disney Plus film is good for all the wrong reasons. Morbius, the much maligned Jared Leto-starring vampiric superhero film, is finally streamable in the US. So, if you're searching for a movie that's so bad it'll have you howling with laughter, we recommend *ahem* sinking your teeth into it.

After more suggestions? Our best Disney Plus movies guide is stuffed with much better flicks than Morbius, so it's worth perusing to see what's actually worth watching on one of the world's best streaming services. US readers should note that some of the entries in that guide (and on this one, too) are only available on Hulu. We've noted where that's the case in both articles. With that housekeeping out of the way, here are all of the new Disney Plus movies that have been released on the service since February.

New Disney Plus movies: March 2024

Morbius

Release date: March 1 (US only)
Runtime: 104 minutes
Age rating: PG-13
Director: Daniel Espinosa
Cast: Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson

One of many Sony-created Spider-Man movie spin-offs that are – how can we put this politely – awful, Morbius is now available to stream (and laugh at) on Disney's primary streaming service.

Leto stars as Doctor Michael Morbius, a geneticist whose attempt to cure his rare blood disease turns him into a living vampire. When his surrogate brother Milo (Smith) also becomes a more menacing, blood-sucking, superpowered individual after having the same treatment, Leto's Morbius reluctantly becomes an anti-hero to stop his sibling's rampage across New York City.

Arguably the world Spider-Man spin-off thus far (Madame Web runs it close), Morbius' abject 15% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes speaks to how bad it is. Its 71% audience rating suggests otherwise but, believe us, it's not worth an ounce of your time. Stick one of the best Spider-Man movies on or, alternatively, find out how to watch the Spider-Man movies in order. Doing either is better than wasting your time with one of this month's new Disney Plus movies.

New Disney Plus movies: February 2024

Suncoast

Release date: February 9 (streaming on Hulu in the US)
Runtime: 109 minutes
Age rating: R (US) / 16-plus (UK)
Director: Laura Chinn
Cast: Nico Parker, Woody Harrelson, Laura Linney, and Ella Anderson

20th Century Studios' latest dramady is, given its story and thematic content, one you'll certainly need to be in the right frame of mind for. Indeed, it's equal parts a weepy drama and heart-warming dark comedy, so we advise you to be in the mood to laugh and/or cry if you stick it on.

Suncoast stars Parker (The Last of Us) as Doris, a struggling teenager who feels overlooked by her mom Kristine (Linney) due to the latter looking after her disabled son 24/7. When Doris strikes up an unlikely friendship with eccentric activist Paul (Harrelson), though, she finds a new way to look at and approach life.

Suncoast was fairly well-received by critics (its 69% Rotten Tomatoes score proving as much), but it's been eaten up by general audiences, as evidenced by its perfect 100% rating on the same review aggregation website.

The Marvels

Release date: February 7
Runtime: 106 minutes
Age rating: 12-plus (worldwide)
Director: Nia DaCosta
Cast: Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Zawe Ashton, and Samuel L. Jackson

Following a terrible box office run that earned its the worst-performing theatrical release in Marvel's 16-year history, The Marvels has cut its losses and made its Disney Plus debut.

Primarily a sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel, it sees Larson's superpowered Carol Danvers team up with Parris' Monica Rambeau (the grown-up daughter of Danvers' late best friend) and Vellani's Kamala Khan to thwart a new Kree threat. That individual is Ashton's Dar-Benn, who wants to usher in a new dawn for the Kree empire at the expense of other worlds – and, potentially, the multiverse itself.

With its 62% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes and abject $206.1 million box office takings, The Marvels doesn't rank highly in our best Marvel movies list. Audiences enjoyed one of the studio's breezier big-screen offerings far more than critics, though, so it's a Marvel Phase 5 flick that's worth streaming if you want to see what all the fuss is about. If nothing else, there's an unexpected post-credits scene that's absolutely worth watching. Find out where it sits on the MCU timeline in our Marvel movies in order guide while you're here, too.
