Epic Games has now started properly teasing the next season of Fortnite. So far, we've had a Tweet about sand, and a small clip from an upcoming trailer. Fasten your seatbelts, as we'll no doubt hear more in the coming days.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is now nearing its end, after giving players a Greek God-themed map to battle across for nearly three months. There's still a whole new Battle Pass to work through, featuring skins based on Gods like Zeus, Hades and Artemis. But you'll need to be quick.

With Fortnite's current season now in its final few days, Epic is starting to pull back the curtain on what's next, and it seems like there's a Fallout crossover on the way. Thankfully, the battle royale title always lists when the current season is going to end, so while downtime will vary, we do know how long we have to work away at the new Battle Pass.

Here's everything you need to know about when Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 ends, when Chapter 5 Season 3 starts, and what to expect. For a more classic experience, check out what we know about Fortnite OG coming back.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 still has a little juice left in it, but thanks to the in-game Battle Pass, we can see that it'll end on May 24 at 2AM ET / 11PM PT / 6PM GMT.

It's worth noting that last season's timings shifted by a couple of days just before the new one was supposed to arrive, so timings here are subject to change. The best place to keep up on specific updates closer to the launch of the new season is the Fortnite Status Twitter account. We'll be sure to keep this page up to date as well.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 will launch on May 24, 2024. The thing to remember about new Fortnite seasons and chapters is that there is always a period of downtime after one ends. This down time makes the next season's exact start time a little tricky to predict as it can range from a couple of hours – as was the case last season – to multiple days, which has happened between chapters before.

In terms of what to expect moving forward, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 is now starting to be teased by Epic. For one, we know that we'll be getting a Fallout tie-in, teasing what is now heavily rumoured to be a post-apocalyptic desert theming. This has been backed up by some reputable Fortnite leaker accounts, like @HYPEX over on Twitter:

Several leakers have pointed towards the new season being called 'Fortnite: Wrecked' (which seems to have been confirmed by Epic as well), with monster trucks and sandy deserts. On May 19, 2024, Epic revealed a short teaser for the new season, which appears to be in line with the recent rumours. You can check it out in the Tweet below:

As you can see from the teaser, a huge sandstorm blows towards the island, bringing a hulking ship with it. New vehicles and post-apocalyptic-themed characters then pour out of it, teasing the new vibe. It does look like monster trucks will be coming to Fortnite, given how the game has been sponsoring real-life stunts recently. We'll have to wait and see how the Fallout crossover plays out, and whether the new season is indeed called 'Wrecked'.
